All of these stories have been and can be resented in different mediums such as the TV News, online news, radio and newspapers. All of these share some of the same but also have many different purposes- one of them that applies to all is to attract the public interest for a story. This has a very strong connection with the way a story’s reported because it has to relate to the topic of the story and also be presented in the most suitable way in relation to the topic. For example, if a topic has lots of numbers and statistics then it would probably attract more readers if it was in an online news or newspaper format because people tend to like to slowly examine them and allow them to sink in more. This applies to week 10 about the net migration rates in the UK.

many of my news diaries over the weeks have some connection with each other because they are linked on from each other or are related to the same news story.  The media must consider this when selecting and telling the stories overtime because the way that a story has been told may have to be told in the same way as the previous one due to the topic, content and even the location of the topic too. Another example would include if a news report is based around a political conference or topic, then possibly a TV report would be best because people nowadays want to see the action that occurs during these important events and TV News would be able to incorporate the shots of the event in with the topic being reported. This could relate to week 11 with the proposals on the air strikes against Syria involving David Cameron and Jeremy Corbyn. Also, this news story has had load of attention from the audience and the media recently because of the overall topic which is highly likely to affect the UK as a whole.

You have kept an excellent news diary through the term; your story choices have been insightful, and it has been interesting to see how you’ve put real thought into how and why the stories are stories. Your increased reading of the news and the broader general knowledge this brings tells in class and in conversation with you, which is very much the point of the news diary: personal development. You’re gaining some good habits, and the way you’re thinking about the stories and narratives within them shows maturity.
